Taking your Certiport Exam at Home

Technical Requirements

• Laptop or Desktop with Windows 10, Windows 11, or Mac OSX Sierra 10.12 or higher
• Chromebook with a current operating system (OS)
• The language of the OS on your computer must match the exam language you are scheduled to take
• Full keyboard and a 2-button mouse
• Recommended minimum screen resolution of 1280 x 800
• The preferred internet browser is Chrome. Internet Explorer, Edge, and Safari are also acceptable
• You will need the ability to download and execute a program file from your browser (see the Certiport user guide for info on managed Chromebook devices)
• Webcam (to check your identity & environment)
• A bandwidth download speed of at least 10Mbps*

Our Products

All products sold on this site are digital and will be redeemed via an access code, product key, or voucher number. Instructions on how to redeem any product will be emailed to you.

• To Learn:
• Learning Product: Purchasing learning products will give you access to web-based or downloadable content. This is what you would purchase if you were brand new to a subject (or needed a refresh) and wanted to be trained on a particular topic in the overall endeavor to become certified. We offer a variety of learning products from several different third-party partners, and they can come in the form of either an e-book or an e-course. Learning products expire 1 year from the date of purchase so you will have access to the learning materials for a full year.


• To Practice:
• Practice Test: Purchasing practice tests will give you access to a third-party website or application where you can take tests that are aligned to the Certiport certification exams. Practice tests alone are not intended for you to learn the subject matter, but rather to prepare you for the scope of objective domains covered (the exact set of knowledge and skills being measured in the certification exam), the nature of how the questions are asked and answered, and to simulate being timed. Two of our most popular types of practice tests are:


• "CertPREP powered by GMetrix" Practice Tests: When you purchase CerPREP practice tests, an access code will be emailed to you. We have two options when purchasing CertPREP:
  • Single Application License: 30 test attempts for a single program title (e.g., just MOS Word)
  • Full Suite License: 100 test attempts across all program titles in the suite (e.g., if you pick MOS, you will get Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, etc.) Included titles vary by program and version suite. The 100 attempts are cumulative, so in this example you could take 25 Word attempts, 25 Excel attempts, and 50 PowerPoint attempts which at that point would consume the license.
  
  
  Note: Both license types can be accessed over the course of a year. CertPREP practice test licenses expire 1 year from the date of purchase, or until all 30 or 100 attempts from the license have been used. Availability of license types varies by product. See product descriptions for more details.


• MeasureUp Practice Tests: When you purchase MeasureUp practice tests, a digital product key will be emailed to you. We have two options when purchasing MeasureUp:
  • 30 day access: unlimited attempts on a single title
  • 60 day access: unlimited attempts on a single title
  
  
  Note: The key must be registered within 30 days after purchase. Availability of access types varies by product. See product descriptions for more details.


• To Certify:
• Exam Voucher: After purchasing an exam voucher, a digital code will be emailed to you that can be redeemed at a Certiport Authorized Testing Center (CATC) for a single attempt at an actual certification exam. If the exam is passed, this will provide you with the associated credential in the form of an online certificate, including a digital badge from Credly to use in your email signature, résumé, to share on social media, or to use on a professional network website. Vouchers expire 1 year from the date of purchase so you will have a full year to use your voucher. CATCs are independently owned and operated and may charge a proctoring or other associated fee; fees may vary.


• Exam Voucher with Retake: The same as the above but with an additional (2nd) attempt to pass should you fail your first attempt. The retake code will not be generated and emailed to you unless you fail your first attempt. If you pass your exam on the first attempt, the retake code cannot be generated and/or redeemed for any other purpose. The retake voucher code can only be redeemed for the exact same exam that was administered in the first failed attempt. The retake voucher code will expire (in Central Time) a set number of days after the code is generated, and the window to redeem a retake code varies by program (see here or within the product description). This will be a different expiration date than the original voucher code redeemed for the initial exam attempt. Expiration dates on retake codes cannot be extended for any reason. Other policies apply when using retakes; please review our full policy prior to redeeming the retake portion of an Exam Voucher with Retake. Vouchers with Retakes expire 1 year from the date of purchase. If you fail on the first attempt and the retake voucher is not redeemed within the specified date it will also expire.


• Other:
• Bundle: A combination of any of the above.


• Proctor Service:
• We have partnered with one of our Certiport Authorized Testing Centers to provide remote proctoring for certification exams through our virtual solution "Exams from Home" for a fee. Instead of locating a public brick & mortar testing center, you can purchase your exam voucher or exam voucher with retake, along with the proctoring fee, and be able to take your exam at home via webcam. How do I take my Certiport certification exam?

Our Learning Products and Practice Tests can be used anywhere at any time, but the actual Certification Exam must be taken through a Certiport Authorized Testing Center (CATC) via an authorized Proctor. All Test Candidates are required to create a Certiport profile. Create one now!

We have two options for you to take your exam. Either by locating a local CATC near you or to have your exam proctored remotely through Certiport's virtual solution, Exams from Home. See details for both options below, including what you will need to be prepared for exam day.

• Taking your exam in person at a local CATC:
• Important: Our CATCs are independently owned and operated. When taking an exam in person at a CATC it is recommended that you contact them first so you are aware of their policies, fees, and to ensure they are set up to deliver the exact exam you wish to take. You can contact local learning centers in your area to see if they are a CATC. If you are a student, you can also check with your school to see if they have a CATC onsite.


• After purchasing an exam voucher from our store, you will be emailed a 16-digit alpha-numeric code (example: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX). The code is not case-sensitive, but you will need to enter the dashes when typing the code into our exam delivery software.


• Print or write down the code and bring it with you to the CATC. You may also assign the voucher to yourself immediately after receiving the code and be able to select it from a dropdown in the exam delivery software instead of entering it manually. • The CATC will check your identity upon arrival. While testing is in progress, use of equipment such as phones or other electronic devices is not permitted.


• The CATC will provide all software and hardware required to take the exam; all you will need to bring with you is your Certiport username and password, along with your exam voucher code.


• Taking your exam from home:
• We have partnered with one of our CATCs to allow you to take an exam from your home using a virtual machine. You will need to purchase a Get Certified America proctoring service fee in addition to an exam voucher from this site. The proctoring service fee can be found here.


• After purchasing an exam voucher from our store, you will be emailed a 16-digit alpha-numeric code (example: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX). The code is not case-sensitive, but you will need to enter the dashes when typing the code into our exam delivery software. Separate instructions from Get Certified America will also be emailed to you.


• Print or write down the code and have it ready before you connect to your remote session. You may also assign the voucher to yourself immediately after receiving the code and be able to select it from a dropdown in the exam delivery software instead of entering it manually. • You will need a desktop or laptop with Windows 10, Windows 11, or Mac OSX Sierra 10.12 or higher, a high-speed internet connection, a webcam, a full keyboard and mouse, a minimum screen resolution of 1280 x 800, and a browser (the preferred internet browser is Chrome. Internet Explorer, Edge, and Safari are also acceptable).


• The webcam will be used to verify your identity and environment and the remote desktop (virtual machine) you will connect to will be monitored by the Proctor. While testing is in progress, use of equipment such as phones or other electronic devices is not permitted.


• You will not need to download or install any software if you are taking the exam on Windows or Mac computer, but will be asked to run a small program file through your browser that will be deleted when your session has completed.


• Chromebook Users: We support Chromebooks for home proctoring but you must install and use our Compass for Individuals app. You can download it from the Play Store here.


• The exam delivery software will be installed on the virtual machine that you will connect to through your browser. All you will need to have on exam day is your Certiport username and password, along with your exam voucher code, and a Certiport Exams from Home access code. Instructions with links to connect to the remote session will be in the fulfillment email from Get Certified America. After scheduling your exam with Get Certified America, they will provide you with the Exams from Home access code.

What happens after I make my purchase?

Certiport, a Pearson VUE Business provides the exam vouchers sold on this site. Our partners GMetrix or MeasureUp provide the practice tests, and our partners such as LearnKey and CCI Learning provide the learning products. Depending on your purchase, you could receive several different emails that will contain your digital codes/keys with instructions for fulfillment and/or redemption of your selected items.

Learning Products and Practice Tests can be utilized at home, but you must take your certification exam at a Certiport Authorized Testing Center (CATC). We have a network of independently owned CATCs that can proctor our certification exams to you either in-person at a brick & mortar address, or remotely through a Certiport virtual solution (see #4 under the Exam Voucher section below).

• For Learning Products – Use the following as a guide to redeem your learning product(s):
• Wait for your fulfillment email that contains your online course/ebook access instructions (can take up to 1-2 business days). If you have not received your email(s) within that time, check your spam folder and if you still do not see the email(s) please contact Customer Service.


• Follow the instructions in the email to download any software or view your courseware through a web-based model.


• For Practice Tests – Use the following as a guide to redeem your code:
• CertPREP (powered by GMetrix):
• Wait for your fulfillment email that contains your voucher code (can take up to 2 hours). If you have not received your email(s) within that time, check your spam folder. If you still have not received your email(s) please contact Customer Service.


• Follow the link to the GMetrix student (Test Candidate) portal and create a user profile by clicking the "Sign up here!" link.


• Important: Adobe, Autodesk, and Microsoft practice tests by GMetrix are in a "Live-in-the-Application" format. These practice tests work by placing the user inside the actual application to take the test. For these programs you will not only need to download the GMetrix SMS software, but must also own the corresponding application and have it installed on your home computer. For example, if you are taking a MOS Word 2019 practice test, then you must have Microsoft Office Word 2019 installed.


• All other practice tests will be taken through a web-based model. Practice tests are self-administered and can be taken at your convenience.


• MeasureUp:
• Wait for your fulfillment email that contains your voucher code (can take up to 2 hours). If you have not received your email(s) within that time, check your spam folder. If you still have not received your email(s) please contact Customer Service.


• Follow the link to the MeasureUp website and create a user profile by hovering over "Sign in" in the top, right-hand corner of the page and clicking the dropdown for "New? Create an account".


• Follow the instructions in the email to download any software or take your test through a web-based model (methods vary depending on the test purchased). Practice tests are self-administered and can be taken at your convenience.


• For Exam Vouchers and Exam Vouchers with Retakes - Use the following as a guide to redeem your voucher and take your exam:
1. Create a user (Test Candidate) profile at www.certiport.com by clicking "Login/Register" in the top, right-hand corner of the page. This is where you will create the username and password to log into your account; you will also need those same credentials to take your exam. This is also where your exam results (transcript) will be stored. For more information on using a Certiport Test Candidate profile, see our help page.


2. Wait for your fulfillment email that contains your voucher code (can take up to 2 hours). If you have not received your email(s) within that time, check your spam folder. If you still have not received your email(s) please contact Customer Service.


3. After you have created a profile and received your fulfillment email you will need to locate a public Certiport Authorized Testing Center (CATC), then contact them to schedule an appointment so they can administer (proctor) the exam to you. We currently have options to administer exams in-person where you would travel to the CATC to sit for your exam, or we also have remote options where the exam could be administered to you from your home through a webcam using Certiport's virtual solution called Exams from Home. Please view the previous section for information on in-person exam delivery through a CATC, or see the next step for remote (home) delivery. Again, please note that CATCs may charge a proctoring or other associated fee whether you take the exam in person or remotely; fees may vary.
   
   Tip: Many education institutions have CATCs onsite. If you are a student, check with your school or college to see if they can administer an exam to you.


4. More on Exams from Home: We sell a proctoring service on this site that you can purchase along with an exam voucher which would allow you to take your exam from a remote location using a webcam and a virtual machine. Certiport has partners around the world. These Solution Providers help facilitate exam delivery to Test Candidates outside the United States. Since location and availability can vary, we ask that you contact one of our Solution Providers to explore what options you may have in your region.
